Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive Human Resources and Safety Manager to join our organization. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing human resources, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and fostering a positive workplace culture. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to organizational growth through effective talent management, employee relations, and strategic HR initiatives. They would also ensure safety training and compliance in the construction industry.

Human Resources Functions

  • Recruitment and Onboarding Manages the full cycle of talent acquisition, focusing on attracting and retaining skilled construction workers in a competitive market. Oversees new employee orientation, ensuring all initial paperwork, background checks, drug testing, and safety certifications are completed.
  • Employee Relations and Compliance Serves as the point of contact for employee concerns and conflict resolution. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, EEO.
  • Compensation and Benefits Oversees payroll, benefits programs, and workers' compensation claims. Conduct reviews of employees’ performance and documents areas needed for improvement.
  • Training and Development Identifies skill gaps and coordinates training programs that cover both technical skills (e.g., equipment operation) and soft skills. Tracks all employee certifications and ensures timely renewals.
  • Performance Management Facilitates performance reviews and works with management to establish clear performance standards and career progression paths for employees.

Construction Safety Functions

  • Safety Program update, implement, and enforces safety manual and site specific plans and policies.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation Conducts regular job site inspections, audits, and ensures sites are implementing safety policies and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to identify potential dangers.
  • OSHA Compliance and Reporting Ensures strict adherence to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other environmental regulations, preparing and submitting all required documentation and reports.
  • Incident Investigation Leads investigations into all accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
  • Safety Training Plans and delivers specific safety training programs, such as fall protection, and proper tool and heavy machinery use. This includes new hire orientations and ongoing "toolbox talks".
  • Emergency Preparedness Develops and updates emergency action plans to ensure a swift and effective response to incidents.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in an HR and/or safety role, specifically within the construction or industrial sector, is highly valued.
  • Certifications:
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification is preferred but would provide if hired.
  • First Aid/CPR certification a plus but would provide if hired.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are all crucial for success in this role.

Expected hours: 40 per week
