ABOUT THE ROLE:
The People Operations HR Specialist is the first line of support for our staff, ensuring seamless and accurate responses to inquiries and requests. This role is essential to the efficient operation of our People Team and requires a customer-service oriented individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of our systems and processes. The HR Specialist plays a key role in employee onboarding and offboarding, HRIS maintenance, and the employee experience. This position reports to the Managing Director of the People Operations Team
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Benefits Administration

Support vendor administration by coordinating with external partners and ensuring smooth program operations.

Assist with benefits program management, including enrollments, changes, and ongoing employee support.

Reconcile monthly benefits invoices to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

Support annual compliance processes, including ACA reporting, 1095-C preparation, and non-discrimination testing.

Manage stipend administration, ensuring accurate tracking, approval, and processing of all stipend assignments.
Program Administration

Coordinate and administer Leaves of Absence, ensuring compliance, clear communication, and a supportive employee experience.

Support ADA accommodation processes, including documentation, communication, and case tracking.

Assist with employee wellness programming and initiatives that promote a positive and healthy work environment.
HRIS Administration

Maintain data integrity through regular audits and updates in the HRIS.

Prepare and distribute HR data reports to support organizational planning and compliance.

Provide technical support to employees regarding system access, troubleshooting, and navigation.

Manage offboarding workflows, ensuring timely system updates and accurate record closure.
Employee Engagement & Retention

Facilitate the new hire onboarding presentation, helping to create a strong and engaging introduction to the organization.

Support initiatives that enhance employee experience and promote retention across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience:
3+ years of experience in human resources administration or related field required.

Skill:
Demonstrated experience in leading system-related projects and driving successful outcomes. Proven track record in systems implementation and optimization. Frontline and Powerschool experience is a plus. Proficient in the use of technical computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite. Experience working in an educational setting is preferred.

Associate’s degree in human resources or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Certification:
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred
