Turning Leaf Residential Rehabilitation is a CARF accredited behavioral health treatment provider supporting adults with a primary diagnosis of mental illness as well as co-occurring diagnoses including: personality disorders, developmental disabilities and/or substance use. Turning Leaf also serves individuals who present complex physical health issues resulting from Alzheimer's or an acquired brain injury.
Turning Leaf is seeking an organized and people-focused Human Resources Specialist to support daily HR operations while ensuring compliance with county, state, and accreditation standards. This role works closely with the Human Resources Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment efforts including posting and updating job openings, reviewing and screening applications through the applicant tracking system, scheduling interviews, attending hiring events, and communicating hiring decisions in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with the pre-employment process by coordinating and tracking background checks, driver record checks, physicals, TB testing, credential and license verification, completion of required documentation, and orientation scheduling
- Work with HR Manager to facilitate new hire onboarding and follow up to ensure training completion
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee personnel files and conduct regular audits
- Support employee credentialing, license verification, and annual renewals
- Assist with external audits, site surveys, and HR documentation
- Support employee benefits education, HR meetings, and investigations as needed
- Assist with HR data tracking, reports, internal communications, website updates, and social media
Qualifications
- 2+ years of HR or administrative experience
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License (less than 4 points)
- Ability to pass background check and physical
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, HR systems, social media)
- Ability to travel up to 40%

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
