Job Description:The Human Resources Specialist is directly accountable to the Executive Director of Human Resources for the duties and responsibilities listed below. The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College's Human Resources Office evolve as necessary to effectively carry out its mission and strategic plan.
The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for recruitment and employee processing, including, but not limited to, job posting; setting up interviews; being the main point of contact for Hiring Panels and applicants; creating an excellent first impression of College employment through innovative onboarding; Additional responsibilities and duties include:
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Office

Oversee and lead recruitment process to include vacancy announcements to include posting on various job boards, strategies for targeted positions, setting up zoom and face to face interviews, uploading interview videos to OneDrive as applicable, and working with departments on solutions to recruitment problems

Recommend to supervisor job sites that target hard to fill positions

Track key HR metrics, including time to fill, time to hire and source of hire

Complete reference checking on all new full-time and part time hires.

May be needed to assist in the promotion of accurate, timely, and electronic, where possible, completion of new hire paperwork

Primary point of contact for the public and new employee inquiries, scheduling, directions, or route to appropriate department or person in a timely and professional manner

Assist in accurately completing offer letters and resignation letters for the President's signature

Assist in the preparation of new employee packets and correspondence as needed
-
Fingerprint new hires as needed

May be needed to assist in the completion of employment verifications from banks and other organizations as needed

Update employee phone directory bi-monthly

Provide professional, courteous, and knowledgeable front office support, as needed

Schedule meetings with HR staff for new hires and current staff and assist individuals who visit HR

May be needed to assist in the processing of requisitions, manage purchase orders, and process invoices

Accurately scan employee files to BDM
-
Complete the monthly new hire report to the state.

Maintain thorough knowledge of and compliance with Board Policy, Employee Handbook, and other College procedure

Assist in departmental projects as needed, such as annual salary letters.

As a part of the College's risk management tool annual mandatory compliance training is required

Job Requirements:-
Associate's degree with two (2) to four (4) years of relevant work experience; or Bachelor's degree with one (1) year of relevant work experience; or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience with administrative support

Proven work experience in a Human Resources office or the equivalent

Experience in Recruitment

Familiar with job sites such as Linked In, Higher Ed Jobs, etc.

Familiarity with HR databases and Banner preferred
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe PDF, Teams, and Zoom required

Work experience in the higher education setting preferred

Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication

Must be detail oriented, have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and have strong interpersonal and organizational skills
