Human Resources & Training Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE
This role supports the employees and the overall organization in the successful delivery of human resources services, and employee development responsibilities including but not limited to: recruitment and staffing, retention, employee relations, benefit administration, and employee onboarding. Responsible for promoting an inclusive and fun environment by planning and executing employee training days and other events.
To improve overall employee effectiveness/performance through the application of individual and group training techniques and programs, consistent with the Credit Union's organizational priorities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in administering the human resources programs including employee recruitment, on-boarding programs, HR compliance, records management, employee benefits, and safety programs.
  • Assists in recruitment, including posting open positions both internally and externally, reviewing and selecting first round interviews for entry-level positions, and conducting first round interviews for all front-line staff while working with hiring managers to schedule subsequent interviews.
  • Assists in responding to employee relation issues concerns and promotes positive employee relations throughout all the branches of the company.
  • Reviews timecards on a weekly basis and follows-up with managers and employees as needed.
  • Maintains HRIS records to ensure consistency and compliance of all required documents.
  • Assists in maintenance of the learning management system, maintaining training records, and tracking training metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members in designing training manuals and related materials, delivering training sessions, and creating procedures.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of CCU’s products and services, helping confidently train employees to meet member needs.
  • Research, plan, and execute events for employees including all-staff training days, all-staff community volunteer days, special holiday events, wellness activities, and other events throughout the year to promote high employee morale.
  • Demonstrate initiative, a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to adapt to changing demands and requirements.
  • Remain in compliance with all company, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Participates in Credit Union business development and community relations activities.
  • Perform other duties as needed or requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.


Must possess excellent communication skills and professionalism in appearance, dress, and attitude is required.

Strong presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
An Associate’s Degree in Learning & Development or Human Resources Management is preferred but professional experience in lieu of a formal degree will be considered.

Additional Certification from SHRM or HRCI is not required, but will be expected to obtain within three years of starting in this position.

EXPERIENCE
Two years of previous work in an office environment is required.
Two years of banking or human resources experience is preferred.
