POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HVAC and Energy Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting HVAC design, energy modeling, and sustainability projects. This is an excellent opportunity for entry-level engineers and engineering students interested in mechanical systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with HVAC load calculations and system sizing using Trane 3D and other tools

Assist energy modeling using tools like eQUEST, EnergyPlus, and OpenStudio
-
Support HVAC system design and drafting using Revit
-
Analyze building energy consumption and recommend improvements

Conduct field assessments and site visits to document existing building systems and perform energy assessments

Contribute to design and drafting templating

Research energy codes, standards, and emerging technologies

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on engineering and sustainability projects

Perform spreadsheet calculations using Excel functions and/or VBA
REQUIREMENTS:

Currently pursuing or recently obtained a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering, or related field

Familiarity with HVAC concepts and basic thermodynamics

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Passion for building systems
PREFERRED SKILLS:

Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and local building codes

Exposure to LEED, WELL, or other certification systems

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools is a plus

Experience with energy modeling software is a plus

Experience with Excel-based energy analysis and/or building load calculations
