Job Summary:

We're seeking a skilled HVAC Controls Programmer to design, program, and troubleshoot building automation systems (BAS) for our commercial HVAC projects. This role bridges programming expertise with hands-on HVAC knowledge, ensuring efficient, reliable controls that wow our clients. Ideal for a controls pro with mechanical/electrical roots, or a field tech/electrician ready to level up in coding—your hybrid skills will make a real impact!

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and customize control programs using platforms like BACnet, Modbus, or Niagara (experience with Tridium or similar a plus).

- Integrate HVAC systems (chillers, VAVs, RTUs) with electrical components for optimal performance.

- Troubleshoot and commission controls on-site, collaborating with techs during installs and service calls.

- Test, debug, and optimize sequences for energy efficiency and compliance (e.g., ASHRAE standards).

- Document programs, train field teams, and support 24/7 emergency responses as needed.

- Stay ahead of trends in IoT/smart building tech to innovate our solutions.

Required Qualifications:

- 3+ years in HVAC controls programming OR equivalent field experience.

- Proficiency in programming languages/tools for BAS (e.g., Ladder Logic, Java, or graphical programming).

- Strong understanding of HVAC mechanical systems (e.g., refrigeration cycles, airflow dynamics) OR electrical principles (e.g., wiring, relays, low-voltage controls).

- Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors/on rooftops (safety training provided).

- Excellent problem-solving skills and a team-player mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Mechanical HVAC background (e.g., as a tech) with programming experience, OR electrical trade certification with controls coding.

- Familiarity with DDC systems, sensors, or SCADA.

- Experience in commercial settings, including rooftop or large-scale installs.
