HVAC Lead Service Technician

The Lead HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The technician ensures systems are functioning efficiently and comply with industry standards and safety regulations. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation & Commissioning:

  • Install HVAC systems including VRF, Air handlers and RTUs, heat pumps,chillers, cooling towers ,ductwork etc.
  • Start up and test newly installed equipment for proper operation and performance.
  • Ensure installations comply with local building codes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete startup and service reports, maintenance logs, and job sheets accurately and in a timely manner.

2. Maintenance & Service:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Inspect and clean coils, fans, filters, and other components.
  • Check refrigerant levels, electrical connections, and controls.

3. Troubleshooting & Repairs:

  • Diagnose malfunctions in HVAC systems using tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as compressors, motors, thermostats, and valves and other key parts.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to identify issues.

4. Customer Service:

  • Communicate with clients regarding service issues, repair timelines, and system operations.
  • Provide recommendations for system upgrades or replacements when necessary.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance while working in homes or commercial settings.

5. Documentation & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling.
  • Maintain licenses and certifications required for HVAC work in accordance with local/state regulations.

6. Safety:

  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards on job sites.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of HVAC training program or experience
  • Valid HVAC technician certification (EPA 608).
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in HVAC service and repair .
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record in order to be insured under a company policy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools and software.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or in extreme heat situations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
