Position Summary:

The Machine Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the smooth operation of production machinery used in the filter manufacturing process. This includes setup, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and calibration of equipment related to cutting, pleating, printing, sealing, and assembling filter media.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with mechanical systems, pneumatic controls, and machine alignment similar to those found in the printing or filter media industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of production machines such as pleating machines, rotary cutters, sealers, wrapping, and packaging units.
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and minor electrical issues and perform corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Install, adjust, and calibrate components including rollers, bearings, chains, belts, and gears.
  • Inspect and replace worn parts as per preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and quality output.
  • Support the setup and changeover of machines for different product runs (filter sizes, materials, and specifications).
  • Collaborate with production manager to troubleshoot operational problems and train them on basic machine care.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and spare parts usage in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives to enhance machine reliability and plant safety.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical or Industrial Maintenance (required).
  • 2–3 years of experience as a mechanic or maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment preferably printing, filter, or paper processing.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine alignment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical controls and sensors.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, diagrams, and manuals.
  • Skilled in use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team under minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
