HVAC preventative maintenance technician

Overview

Before applying to position please have basic core knowledge of a hvac system and servicing and cleaning units.

Applicant should already know the following

1.checking electrical connections

2. Reading and identifying equipment and equipments data plate

3.reading electrical diagrams and understanding

4. Reading and understanding refrigerant pressure charts

5. Evaluating systems duct systems and noting air flow rating.

6. Should need minimal to no training if hired. This is a preventative maintenance position not a service tech position. Very rarely will you have to actually diagnose.

7. Should need no supervision and schedule oriented.

In this energetic role, you will proactively inspect, service, and maintain a wide range of HVAC equipment to prevent breakdowns, improve efficiency, and uphold safety standards. Your expertise will help create comfortable, safe environments for clients while advancing your skills in a fast-paced, field service setting. This paid position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and develop a comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical maintenance.

Duties

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration units (including ammonia refrigeration), and related mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose issues using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters to identify electrical or mechanical faults.
  • Conduct equipment inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
  • Repair or replace faulty components such as motors, valves, compressors, pumps, and electrical wiring; utilize welding skills when necessary for repairs.
  • Maintain detailed service records, including inspection reports, repair logs, and schematics updates to track system performance over time.
  • Assist in the installation of new HVAC systems or upgrades following HVAC design specifications.
  • Support plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems like condensate drainage or refrigerant line connections; handle field service requests promptly to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an HVAC service technician with strong mechanical knowledge and construction background.
  • Familiarity with schematics reading, HVAC/R (refrigeration) systems, plumbing practices, and appliance repair techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment repair including boilers, ammonia refrigeration units, air conditioning systems, and related mechanical components.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively; welding experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating <PERSON> drivers preferred for site visits.
  • Knowledge of HVAC design principles and property maintenance practices to optimize system performance.
  • Strong field service skills with the ability to troubleshoot efficiently in diverse environments; mechanic experience is highly valued.
