Refrigeration Technician must be able to install, maintain, and repair commercial/residential/marine heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
· Installation & Repair: Installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems.
· Diagnostics: Identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing malfunctioning HVAC/R equipment using tools like gauges and electrical meters.
· Preventive Maintenance: Performing routine inspections, cleaning coils, changing filters, and lubricating parts to prevent breakdowns.
· Refrigerant Handling: Recovering, charging, and disposing of refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations.
· Documentation: Maintaining accurate logs of service calls, repairs, and materials used.
· Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work adheres to building codes, safety regulations, and electrical standards
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an HVAC technical training program or apprenticeship is strongly preferred.
- Certification: EPA Section 608 certification is typically mandatory for handling refrigerants.
- Experience: Previous experience as a technician, particularly with commercial refrigeration systems.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of HVAC systems, electricity, plumbing, and control systems.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs), work in confined spaces, and work at heights.
- Communication: Interacting with customers to explain repairs and system operations
HVAC installer sets up, replaces, and configures heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential or commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation: Set up air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, and geothermal units according to manufacturer specifications.
- Ductwork & Piping: Design, fabricate, and install HVAC duct systems, refrigerant lines, and gas lines.
- Electrical Work: Wire both low and line voltage to heating and cooling equipment.
- Testing & Safety: Test systems for leaks, proper airflow, and electrical safety; adhere to local building codes and OSHA regulations.
- Site Preparation: Load necessary equipment/materials, and remove old units.
- Customer Service: Explain system functionality to clients and ensure high customer satisfaction
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using power tools, reading blueprints, and understanding HVAC systems.
- Certifications: EPA certification for handling refrigerants is usually required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces or at heights.
- Experience: Previous experience as an HVAC helper or installer is commonly required.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and customers.
Pay: $47,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
