HVAC RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL SALESPERSON/ESTIMATOR

Title: HVAC Residential/Commercial Salesperson/Estimator

Reports to: Owner

Position Summary: Generate residential and/or commercial HVAC job sales and accurately estimate labor, equipment, and materials for installations and replacements. Build customer relationships, conduct on-site assessments, present solutions, and convert leads into profitable contracts while coordinating with operations for smooth project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site assessments of HVAC systems, measure spaces, and evaluate system performance and replacement needs.
  • Prepare accurate, competitive estimates/quotes for equipment, ductwork, labor, permits, and ancillary materials.
  • Educate customers on system options, energy efficiency, financing, warranties, and maintenance plans; present proposals and close sales.
  • Qualify and follow up on leads from marketing, referrals, and service technicians; maintain a consistent sales pipeline.
  • Generate professional written estimates, proposals, and purchase agreements; obtain necessary signatures and deposits.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, project managers, and warehouse to confirm material availability, scheduling, and job scope.
  • Track job costs, change orders, and margin performance; update estimates as needed.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, proposals, and communications.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, handle objections professionally, and resolve pre‑install concerns.
  • Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly sales and conversion targets; report metrics to management.
  • Stay current on HVAC products, codes, rebates, and industry best practices; attend training and manufacturer certification sessions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or HVAC certification preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in residential HVAC sales, estimating, or field service; prior construction estimating experience a plus.
  • Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems, load considerations, and replacement criteria.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools, basic math, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.

Physical & Work Conditions:

  • Regular travel to customer's homes and businesses; ability to access attics, crawlspaces, and mechanical areas.
  • Moderate physical activity: climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance for short periods.
  • Office time for estimates, follow‑up, and administrative tasks.

Compensation:

  • Base salary or Base salary plus commission (competitive compensation dependent on experience).
  • Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and company vehicle (as offered by employer).

Pay: $60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
