HVAC Service Technician

We are seeking a HVAC Service Technician with experience installing and servicing HVAC systems. The HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heating and cooling systems—including furnaces, heat pumps, ACs, and mini-splits—using advanced technical skills in electrical diagnostics, refrigeration cycles, and system performance testing. They will also ensure clear communication with customers, thorough documentation, and professional, safety-focused service across both residential service and installation tasks. You will work closely with our HVAC Supervisor, other HVAC Service Tech and other installers.

Technical Skills

  • Diagnostic Ability – Troubleshoots HVAC systems (furnaces, heat pumps, ACs, mini-splits) efficiently
  • Electrical Knowledge – Reads wiring diagrams, tests high/low voltage circuits confidently
  • Refrigeration Cycle Mastery – Understands superheat/subcooling, accurately charges systems
  • Combustion Analysis – Performs flue gas analysis; tunes systems for safety and efficiency
  • Rebate Testing Familiarity – Performs utility/energy rebate testing (static pressure, airflow, fan watt draw, etc.)
  • System Commissioning – Verifies static pressure, airflow, and temp splits; documents per specs
  • Preventative Maintenance – Handles tune-ups, coil cleaning, component checks, etc.
  • Basic Plumbing – Manages condensate drains, water heater tie-ins, simple drainage
  • Tech Comfortable – Uses mobile apps, Bluetooth tools, and software-based diagnostics
  • EPA 608 Certified – Required for refrigerant handling
  • NATE Certified (optional) – Shows advanced HVAC knowledge and professionalism
  • CAZ testing, Blower Door testing, and DG-1000 proficiency (optional)
  • Install-Ready – Willing and able to assist or lead installs when service work is slow

Compensation

$70,000-$100,000 per year (hourly plus commission)

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years experience installing and/or servicing residential heat pump systems
  • Valid MT Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer interface
  • Process-oriented
