HVAC Service Technician

About the Role

As an HVAC Service Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing HVAC systems in residential and light commercial settings. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality service, educating customers, and ensuring all work is completed in compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and company expectations.

The ideal candidate is technically skilled, customer-service oriented, safety-focused, and able to work independently while supporting overall team operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair HVAC systems, including heat pumps, furnaces, AC units, and mini-split systems.
  • Perform seasonal maintenance, tune-ups, and safety inspections.
  • Clean, adjust, and maintain coils, drain lines, ductwork, vents, and related HVAC components.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
  • Communicate findings clearly and professionally with customers.
  • Educate customers on system performance, maintenance needs, and service recommendations.
  • Complete digital work orders, service notes, and required documentation through mobile apps or company systems.
  • Follow all company procedures for service calls, job documentation, parts usage, and customer communication.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked company vehicle.
  • Use company-issued tools, equipment, phone, tablet, uniforms, vehicle, and fuel card responsibly and for business purposes only.
  • Follow all safety protocols, driving safety rules, and applicable code requirements.
  • Represent the company professionally while working at customer locations.
  • Support team operations and assist with training junior technicians when needed.
  • Participate in continuous technical training and career development opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous HVAC service, maintenance, or repair experience required.
  • Knowledge of residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair AC units, heat pumps, furnaces, mini-splits, and related equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, service notes, safety procedures, and technical instructions.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to complete digital documentation using mobile apps, tablets, or company systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned service calls efficiently.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call weekend rotation as needed.
  • Ability to comply with company safety, code, and vehicle-use requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA Certification preferred or required, depending on company policy.
  • HVAC trade school, technical training, or related certification preferred.
  • Experience with mobile work order systems preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Work Environment

This position involves field service work at customer locations, including residential and light commercial properties. The HVAC Service Technician is expected to maintain professionalism, follow all safety guidelines, protect company equipment, and deliver reliable service that supports customer satisfaction and company standards.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
