Advanced Heating & Cooling is seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team serving residential and commercial customers throughout Rhode Island. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a full range of gas, propane, and electric heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You will work independently in the field and represent Advanced Heating & Cooling with professionalism on every service call.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on residential and light commercial HVAC systems
- Diagnose and repair heating systems including gas and propane furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, and electric heating units
- Service and repair central air conditioning, ductless mini-split, and packaged HVAC systems
- Respond to service calls and troubleshoot system failures in a timely and efficient manner
- Install and replace HVAC equipment and components as needed
- Inspect ductwork, electrical connections, controls, and system components for proper operation
- Communicate clearly with customers about findings, repairs, and recommendations
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts documentation
- Ensure all work meets local Rhode Island building codes and manufacturer specifications
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on HVAC service experience (residential and/or commercial)
- Valid gas fitting or relevant trade certifications
- Valid Rhode Island driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Proficiency diagnosing and repairing gas, electric, and heat pump systems
- Solid understanding of electrical theory, controls, and wiring schematics
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily service route
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces, attics, and rooftops
Preferred Qualifications
- Rhode Island HVAC Journeyman or Master License (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with commercial rooftop units, multi-zone systems, or building automation controls
- NATE Certification in one or more specialty areas
- Familiarity with brands such as Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Mitsubishi, Daikin, or equivalent
- Experience with service dispatch software or mobile work order apps
Schedule
Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with rotating on-call availability for after-hours and weekend emergency service. Seasonal overtime is common during summer cooling and winter heating seasons.
