Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Foreman to lead our field team in the fabrication, installation, and repair of commercial sheet metal systems. The foreman will be responsible for supervising a crew, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of sheet metal workers and apprentices on-site.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions, including scheduling, material control, and equipment rentals.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to ensure precise execution of all projects.
- Work with the project manager and team members to develop and maintain a 3-week manpower lookahead schedule and identify cost-saving strategies.
- Ensure all site personnel comply with project procedures, safety requirements (OSHA standards), and company policies. Document all incidents and implement corrective action as needed.
- Coordinate with the fabrication shop for production scheduling and material deliveries.
- Conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) inspections, ensuring systems are installed per plans, specifications, and local codes.
- Ensure proper project documentation, including daily reports and time entry for crew members.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience running commercial mechanical projects as a foreman or lead technician.
- Extensive experience in sheet metal installation processes (e.g., commercial HVAC ductwork, roof curbs, HVAC equipment installation).
- Highly proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, and technical diagrams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Knowledge of job-site safety procedures and ability to enforce them effectively.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and correctly
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
