Position Location
This position will be located onsite in San Diego, California.
Job Overview
The HVAC Tech is to perform HVAC repairs, and maintenance duties in support of the contract.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:

Maintain numerous mechanical, electrical and electronic components; including Heating and air conditioning systems, cooling only split systems, cooling only packaged systems, packaged and split heat pumps, chilled water systems, heating only systems; convection and radiant heaters; systems may be electric, gas and hydronic operated or a combination of thereof; ventilation and exhaust systems applicable to facility ventilation and industrial equipment ventilation; refrigeration equipment; direct digital control systems and temperature controls; economizers; includes all components for the listed equipment types as well as electrical, gas, and water supply.

Diagnose and correct problems throughout the entire system by adjusting controls to recommended settings and testing the performance using necessary special tools and equipment.

Service and operate all types of residential, commercial, and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, climate-controlled automation systems, energy management control systems and program control systems.

Receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates request or problems and where appropriate, establishes priorities.
Job Requirements
Mandatory
-
Five years experience in the HVAC trade in service and maintenance operations.
-
Thorough knowledge of National and Local building, HVAC codes, refrigeration, chillers, HVAC, pneumatics, steam, and condensate systems.

OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry (or ability to complete within 120-calendar days of hire).
-
Must be able to read and interpret plans, schematics specifications, operating and maintenance manuals, codes, and regulations.

General knowledge of hand and power tools.
-
High school graduate or equivalent.
-
Valid class C state driver’s license with suitable driving record (must provide current driving record).
-
Must be able to don required personal protective equipment.
-
Ability to pass and maintain cleared background check.
-
US Citizen or ability to legally work in the US.
Preferred
-
EPA certified per section 608 of the Clean Air Act and hold no less than a Universal level CFC certification (will always be required to carry this certification on their person).
-
Technical, vocational or trade school graduate or equivalent.
-
Background in Building Maintenance.
-
Two years’ experience on screw chiller units >100-ton capacity and industrial cooling towers.
-
Two years’ experience on variable frequency drives and air handler unit maintenance activities.
Working Conditions:
-
Work is performed mostly indoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.

Work hours are subject to change, with weekend work or overtime as needed.
-
Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels.

Tasks may be performed on elevated, uneven, inclined, hard, and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces, including building rooftops and elevated passageways.

Must be able to work under, in or around buildings, structures, or fixtures, such as ducting systems, attics or crawl spaces.
Physical Requirements:
While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
