Job Title: HVAC Technician

An HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards. The role involves diagnosing system issues, performing regular maintenance, and working with clients to recommend solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation:
  • Install HVAC systems and equipment, such as air conditioners, heaters, thermostats, ductwork, and refrigeration units.
  • Set up and calibrate HVAC equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Maintenance:
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting ductwork.
  • Change filters and clean components as needed to ensure system efficiency.
  • Keep records of maintenance activities and parts used.
  • Repair and Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC systems, such as faulty wiring, refrigerant leaks, or malfunctioning thermostats.
  • Use diagnostic tools and instruments to determine system issues.
  • Replace or repair malfunctioning parts such as compressors, evaporators, or condensers.
  • Customer Service:
  • Communicate with clients to explain problems, offer solutions, and provide system performance recommendations.
  • Provide clients with cost estimates for repairs or system replacements.
  • Educate customers on HVAC system operation and maintenance best practices.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure that HVAC systems comply with local codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines when handling refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and safe.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems. Familiar with tools such as manometers, voltmeters, pressure gauges, and refrigerant leak detectors.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to diagnose and repair HVAC issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Communication: Good communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and local building codes.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions carefully and work with precision to ensure system functionality and safety.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in tight or uncomfortable spaces.
  • Certifications: EPA certification for handling refrigerants (in some areas), HVAC-related certifications, and a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a Clean Driver Record(Submit w/Resume)

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in HVAC technology is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5years of experience in HVAC installation or maintenance.
  • Certifications: EPA 608 Certification (or equivalent) for handling refrigerants, and additional certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) are beneficial.

Working Conditions:

  • Work may be performed in various environments, including residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
  • The role may require working in various weather conditions, heights, and confined spaces.
  • Some travel may be required for service calls.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
