HVAC Testing and Air Balancing Technician

The HVAC Testing & Air Balancing (TAB) Technician is responsible for performing testing, adjusting, and balancing of airside HVAC systems to ensure proper airflow, temperature control, and system performance as per project specifications and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE,SMACNA, CIBSE, NEBB). The technician will measure, diagnose, and correct airflow issues and support overall commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities:Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) – Air Systems

  • Perform airflow measurements and balancing for AHUs, FCUs, FAHUs, VAVs, exhaust fans, and ventilation systems.
  • Adjust dampers, fan speeds, and controls to achieve required air quantities.
  • Verify supply, return, and exhaust airflows match design values.
  • Measure and record static pressure, velocity, temperature, and humidity.
  • Ensure proper zoning, distribution, and indoor environmental conditions.

System Inspection & Troubleshooting

  • Inspect ductwork, dampers, filters, coils, fans, and air outlets for performance issues.
  • Identify airflow imbalances, obstructions, leakage, and mechanical faults.
  • Support corrective actions and coordinate with site teams for rectification.

Instrument Handling & Calibration

  • Use TAB instruments such as anemometers, velometers, airflow hoods, manometers, and pressure gauges.
  • Ensure instruments are calibrated and used as per standard procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain detailed TAB reports, measurement sheets, and system performance records.
  • Communicate findings to supervisors, engineers, and commissioning teams.
  • Ensure proper documentation as per project commissioning plans.

Safety & Standards Compliance

  • Follow safety practices and adhere to site HSE regulations.
  • Work in accordance with SMACNA, AABC, or NEBB balancing standards.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of air balancing principles and airflow measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of HVAC components such as fans, coils, filters, dampers, diffusers, ductwork, and controls.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, airflow diagrams, and schedules.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a commissioning team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to AED4,500.00 per month
