Hybrid Assistant Director of Operations / Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)-School-Aged/Adult Clinic

212 S Washington St, Alexandria, VA 22314-3626, United States

FULL-TIME

Hybrid Assistant Director of Operations / Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

About Us

We are a BCBA-owned and operated ABA organization committed to delivering high-quality, ethical, and client-centered services. Our leadership structure is intentionally designed to allow BCBAs to focus on clinical excellence, client outcomes, and operational leadership rather than administrative burdens.

To support this mission:

  • A dedicated Parent Training Director provides parent and caregiver training services.
  • A dedicated Insurance and Authorization Specialist manages authorizations, reauthorizations, claims, and insurance-related administrative processes.
  • BCBAs are empowered to focus on client care, staff development, quality assurance, and organizational operations.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized professional to serve in a dual-role capacity as both Assistant Director of Operations and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at our school-aged clinic. This leadership position combines operational oversight with a small clinical caseload, allowing the individual to influence organizational growth while remaining connected to client outcomes.

This role is ideal for a BCBA who enjoys leadership, process improvement, staff development, and operational management while maintaining direct clinical involvement.

Essential Responsibilities

Assistant Director of Operations

  • Partner with executive leadership to oversee daily operations and organizational initiatives.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, staff retention, and employee engagement efforts.
  • Monitor operational workflows and implement systems that improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Assist with scheduling oversight, capacity management, and service expansion planning.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance initiatives.
  • Analyze operational metrics and develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Participate in strategic planning, growth initiatives, and program development.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure exceptional client outcomes and staff support.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and excellence.

BCBA Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage a small caseload sufficient to support billable hour expectations.
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and support to RBTs and clinical staff.
  • Monitor client progress and make data-based treatment decisions.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and other providers as needed.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
  • Support clinical quality initiatives and staff development.

What Makes This Role Different

Unlike many ABA organizations, this position is designed to allow BCBAs to focus on what they do best:

  • Clinical care and client outcomes
  • Staff mentorship and supervision
  • Operational leadership and organizational growth

The organization provides dedicated support for administrative functions that often pull BCBAs away from their expertise:

  • Parent training is managed by the Parent Training Director.
  • Insurance authorizations, reauthorizations, and billing-related coordination are managed by the Insurance and Authorization Specialist.
  • Administrative systems are designed to maximize BCBA efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current BCBA certification in good standing.
  • Master's degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of ABA clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience supervising RBTs and clinical staff.
  • Strong commitment to ethical and evidence-based practice.

Preferred

  • Previous operational, management, or director-level experience.
  • Experience with program development and organizational growth.
  • Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

  • Hybrid work environment.
  • Flexible scheduling.
  • Combination of operational leadership, remote work, and client-facing responsibilities.
  • Clinical caseload intentionally maintained at a manageable level to support operational leadership duties.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Leadership development opportunities.
  • Continuing education and professional development support.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits (if applicable).
  • Advancement opportunities within a growing BCBA-led organization.

Our Philosophy

As a BCBA-owned and operated organization, we believe BCBAs create the greatest impact when they are empowered to focus on clients, staff development, and organizational leadership—not insurance paperwork or routine administrative tasks. Our support structure is intentionally designed to maximize clinical quality, operational excellence, and employee satisfaction.
