About the Role
Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working outdoors and thrives on variety? Join our team as a full-time HFC System Technician and play a vital role in keeping our broadband and telephony services running smoothly for our customers.
As a HFC System Technician, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing our hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network. Your work will directly impact customer satisfaction and network reliability, whether responding to outages, performing routine maintenance, or supporting installation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair service interruptions for telephony and broadband internet services. This includes detecting, troubleshooting, resolving system outages, and performing emergency network restoration.
- Must be willing and available to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
- Conduct leakage detection and repairs using CLI ride outs.
- Provide bucket truck assistance for installation technicians.
- Perform construction maintenance, including splicing and activating aerial/underground coaxial cable.
- CATV power supply maintenance and activation.
- Maintain and stock vehicles and equipment for daily tasks.
- Troubleshoot network issues from the node through the distribution system to restore customer service.
- Complete daily paperwork and maintain tools and vehicle in good condition.
- Work and travel in all weather conditions.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Washington state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to climb and operate ladders and aerial lifts.
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as necessary for emergency network restoration.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of fiber optic and cable TV equipment, broadband concepts, RF, digital/analog transport, and line equipment.
- Proficiency with hand tools and advanced cable test equipment.
- Ability to read system designs from electronic files.
- Willingness to learn new technologies for system growth.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
- Familiarity with NEC and NESC standards.
- Knowledge of cable and AC/DC theory, construction practices, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time, and ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Preferred:
- Experience with HFC networks, RF, AC/DC theory, and customer premise networks.
- Prior work in telecommunications installation or service.
- Experience with coax and/or fiber network installation and maintenance.
