About the Role

Surlon Group is expanding its R&D division and seeking a Hydraulic Design Engineer to develop hydraulic shock absorbers and damping systems for global applications used in transportation and industrial applications worldwide.

This is a design-focused role — ideal for an engineer who can design from first principles, perform complete hydraulic and mechanical calculations, and translate performance requirements into manufacturable designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hydraulic shock absorbers and damping systems end-to-end.
  • Perform oil flow and pressure drop calculations for valves, orifices, and flow paths.
  • Develop and tune force–velocity and force–displacement curves to achieve target damping characteristics.
  • Simulate hydraulic behavior using Simcenter AMESim, MATLAB/SimHydraulics, or Automation Studio.
  • Conduct CFD and FEA (ANSYS / COMSOL / SolidWorks Flow) for valve, piston, and housing optimization.
  • Prepare design documentation, including calculation reports, validation plans, and test correlation studies.
  • Work with prototype and testing teams to validate products through HEICO, BISS, or MTS dynamic test rigs and correlate design simulations with real test data.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and durability.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Required Expertise

  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, hydraulic damping theory, and dynamic systems.
  • Proven experience in valve/orifice sizing, flow coefficient analysis, and force–velocity modeling.
  • Hands-on with hydraulic simulation tools:Simcenter AMESim, SimHydraulics (MATLAB), Automation Studio, or HydroSym.
  • Skilled in CAD (SolidWorks/CATIA) and CFD/FEA for design optimization.
  • Exposure to hydraulic damper testing systems such as HEICO, BISS, or MTS or related for performance validation and correlation.
  • 5–10 years of product design experience in hydraulic shock absorbers or damping systems.
  • B.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Hydraulic Engineering.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Work on international damping technology programs from concept to production.
  • Be part of a growing R&D environment focused on performance, safety, and innovation.
  • Full ownership of product development — from theory → design → simulation → testing.
