Farm Pump & Irrigation Co. has served Central Valley growers, municipalities, and property owners with pump and water well services for decades. We pull pumps, install new systems, rehabilitate wells, and keep agricultural and domestic water flowing across Kern County and beyond.

We are hiring an experienced Certified Crane Operator with a Class A CDL to join our field crew. This is steady, year-round work with a respected local company.

The Role

This is a dual position. You will operate truck-mounted and mobile cranes to pull and install pumping equipment, and you will drive a commercial semi with trailer to move cranes, rigs, and materials to job sites throughout the Central Valley.

What You Will Do

  • Operate mobile and boom cranes to pull and install vertical turbine and submersible pumps.
  • Handle column pipe, motors, casing, bowls, and related well equipment.
  • Drive Class A semi and trailer to haul cranes, rigs, and materials to job sites.
  • Rig loads and run critical lift checklists with the field foreman.
  • Set outriggers and cribbing on farm fields, rural roads, and tight residential sites.
  • Complete DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections; document defects.
  • Perform daily crane and rigging inspections.
  • Support pump service, well rehabilitation, and new installations.
  • Follow NCCCO, Cal/OSHA, and FMCSA safety standards on every job.

Required

  • NCCCO Mobile Crane Operator certification.
  • Valid Class A California CDL with clean DMV printout.
  • 3 years combined crane operation and Class A driving experience.
  • Current DOT medical card.
  • Ability to pass drug screen, DOT physical, and background check.
  • Age 21 or older.

Preferred

  • Water well or pump service experience.
  • Experience hauling drill or pump rigs.
  • Forklift, rigging, or signal person certifications.
  • Welding or mechanical skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Compensation:

The anticipated hourly pay for experienced Hydro Crane Operator is $20.00 - $35.00 per hour, based on several factors, including, years of experience and related skills.
