Hydrovac Operator

Middleton Mechanical LLC is seeking an experienced Hydrovac Operator to safely perform non-destructive excavation in support of underground natural gas utility projects.

This is a safety-sensitive position operating in live utility environments. We are looking for a dependable, professional operator who understands the responsibility that comes with running heavy equipment around active underground infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate hydrovac/vacuum truck for potholing, daylighting, trenching, and debris removal
• Safely expose underground gas, electric, water, and telecom utilities
• Drive hydrovac truck to and from job sites in compliance with DOT regulations
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Maintain and clean hydrovac equipment (tanks, pumps, hoses, water systems)
• Identify hazards and establish safe work zones
• Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
• Complete field reports, safety documentation, and equipment logs
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
• Assist crews as needed once excavation is complete
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Required Qualifications

• Valid CDL (Class B minimum – Class A preferred)
• Clean driving record
• Hydrovac experience preferred (1–3+ years ideal)
• Experience working around underground utilities
• Strong understanding of jobsite safety
• Physically capable of handling hoses and working in excavation environments
• Ability to work extended hours when required

This is a safety-sensitive, DOT-regulated position.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $28.44 - $36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 60.0 per week
