Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Nurse (ICN) provides high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill or injured patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICN monitors vital signs, administers medication, operates life-support equipment, and collaborates closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure the best patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care to critically ill patients in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs, consciousness levels, and overall health status.
- Administer IV fluids, medications, and blood products as prescribed.
- Operate and maintain life-support equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, etc.
- Perform emergency interventions (e.g., CPR, code blue response).
- Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in patient medical records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient condition and care plans.
- Ensure infection control and patient safety protocols are followed.
- Participate in patient care planning, shift handovers, and team meetings.
- Support family members emotionally and provide education about the patient's condition and care needs.
- Stay updated with the latest clinical guidelines and ICU best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in [State/Country].
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (e.g., CCRN) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
