- Emergency Care: Assess and prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition and provide immediate medical interventions
- This includes performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, administering medications, and coordinating with other medical professionals to deliver appropriate and timely care
- Triage: Evaluate patients as they arrive in the emergency department and determine the urgency of their condition
- Assign triage categories to ensure that the most critical patients receive immediate attention
- Emergency Procedures: Perform various emergency procedures such as wound suturing, fracture reduction, joint dislocation reduction, abscess drainage, and other minor surgical procedures
- Additionally, you may need to initiate resuscitation efforts in critical situations, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced life support techniques
- Diagnoses and Treatment Plans: Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute medical conditions, including trauma, cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, poisoning, infectious diseases, and more
- Develop appropriate treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide referrals to specialists if needed
- Team Coordination: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, paramedics, radiologists, surgeons, and specialists, to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care
