Job Summary

The ICU Resident Medical Officer is responsible for providing continuous and high-quality medical care to critically ill patients, ensuring patient safety, adherence to NABH standards, and effective coordination with the multidisciplinary ICU team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Responsibilities

- Perform initial assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring of critically ill ICU patients.

- Record and interpret vital signs, laboratory results, ABGs, and imaging reports.

- Implement treatment plans as directed by intensivists and consultants.

- Assist in ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway care.

- Perform or assist in ICU procedures as per competence, including IV line insertion, arterial sampling, CPR, and emergency management.

- Respond promptly to ICU emergencies and Code Blue situations.

2. Patient Safety & Quality (NABH Compliance)

- Follow NABH patient safety goals, ICU protocols, and standard treatment guidelines.

- Ensure strict adherence to infection control practices and antibiotic stewardship.

- Monitor medication safety, transfusion protocols, and high-risk drugs.

- Report and document adverse events, near misses, and sentinel events as per hospital policy.

3. Documentation & Records

- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records in accordance with NABH standards.

- Write daily progress notes, treatment orders, ICU charts, and consent documentation.

- Prepare transfer notes, discharge summaries, and death summaries accurately.

- Assist with medico-legal documentation when required.

4. Coordination & Communication

- Coordinate closely with intensivists, consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals.

- Communicate patient condition, investigations, and treatment updates to seniors in a timely manner.

- Counsel patients’ relatives regarding clinical status under consultant supervision.

- Participate in ICU rounds, shift handovers, and clinical meetings.

5. Administrative & Support Duties

- Ensure proper functioning of ICU equipment and report any issues promptly.

- Participate in NABH audits, quality improvement programs, and clinical training sessions.

- Follow hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and statutory regulations.

- Assist in training and supervision of junior doctors or nursing staff when required.

Qualifications and experience:

- MBBS from a recognized medical college.

- Valid MMC registration.

- 0–3 years of experience in ICU / Emergency / Critical Care preferred.

- Fresh MBBS doctors with ICU exposure may also apply.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong clinical judgment and emergency handling skills.

- Basic knowledge of ventilators and critical care monitoring systems.

- Ability to work under pressure in a high-acuity environment.

- Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

- Familiarity with NABH standards and hospital protocols.

Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹42,000.00 per month
