Job Summary:
The ICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves continuous monitoring, assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients, including those on life support and invasive monitoring.
- Monitor and assess vital signs, neurological status, and hemodynamic stability.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and advanced life-saving interventions per physician orders.
- Operate and troubleshoot critical care equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals in the planning and execution of care.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients’ families.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
- Respond to emergencies and perform advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) procedures when necessary.
- Participate in continuing education, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives.
