I m supporting a leading charity that is embarking on a critical project to ensure full compliance with
IFRS 16 within the
Charity SORP framework. They are seeking an experienced
qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) to lead the adoption of IFRS 16 across their portfolio of
vehicle and property leases.
This is a high-impact interim role, ideal for someone with strong technical accounting expertise and previous experience implementing or reviewing IFRS 16 in a charity or not-for-profit environment.
Role Responsibilities - Lead the end-to-end adoption of IFRS 16 in line with Charity SORP requirements.
- Review all existing building and vehicle lease agreements, identifying key data points and assessing their impact on financial statements.
- Develop and implement the appropriate accounting treatment, calculations, and disclosures.
- Produce relevant working papers, models, and documentation for audit and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with Finance, Procurement, and operational teams to gather accurate lease data and ensure consistent application of IFRS 16 principles.
- Support the year-end process and provide technical guidance to the wider finance team.
Candidate Profile - Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
- Strong technical accounting background with proven IFRS 16 experience.
- Previous exposure to the charity or not-for-profit sector is highly desirable but not essential
- Able to interpret complex lease arrangements and communicate accounting impacts clearly cross functionally in the business.
- Self-starter comfortable leading a project with minimal supervision.
