Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Illinois Family Law Attorney to join our reputable law firm. The ideal candidate will possess some experience in family law and be skilled in maintaining excellent rapport with family law clients and have confidence in planning and executing litigation strategy. This role offers an opportunity to provide exceptional legal services to clients navigating complex family law issues while learning how mental health savvy can improve our lawyering (our managing partner is a litigator of some 20 years and a psychotherapist of 5+ years). The attorney will be responsible for managing cases from inception through resolution, ensuring compliance with all legal standards and delivering personalized client advocacy.

Duties

  • Represent clients in family law matters such as divorce, child custody, visitation, and support cases.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using LexisNexis, IICLE, and other legal databases to support case strategies.
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, agreements, and court filings with precision and clarity.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes while maintaining professionalism and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Execute hearings and trials with skill and confidence.
  • Stay current on evolving laws and regulations relevant to practice areas through continuous professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the law office to ensure comprehensive client service and effective case management.
  • Prepare for court appearances by organizing case files and developing strategic arguments aligned with client interests.

Skills

  • Some experience in family law litigation
  • Strong negotiation skills to facilitate settlements that benefit clients while maintaining professional integrity.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis for effective case preparation.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting clear legal documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform detailed legal drafting with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Legal administrative experience is preferred to efficiently manage case documentation and deadlines.
  • Effective research skills to analyze complex legal issues across multiple practice areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
