Job Summary
The Import Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all import activities, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and company policies. This role oversees shipment processes, documentation, communication with authorities, and cost-effective import operations. The candidate should have strong knowledge of HS Codes, Weboc, EFS, and customs rules, along with practical experience in handling import shipments and currency-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end import operations including documentation, clearance, and coordination with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs agents.
- Ensure accurate classification of goods using HS Codes for all imported items.
- Handle Weboc and EFS procedures for import filing, documentation, and customs clearance.
- Ensure compliance with customs rules, SROs, and regulatory requirements for all import transactions.
- Monitor shipment schedules and track consignments to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with banks for currency exchange, LC processing, remittances, and payment follow-ups.
- Liaise with relevant government authorities such as Customs, FBR, WEBOC Support, and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain updated import records, filing systems, and reports for management review.
- Identify opportunities to optimize cost, reduce delays, and streamline import procedures.
- Resolve issues related to documentation, delays, duties/taxes, or regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with procurement, finance, and warehouse teams for smooth inbound material management.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of HS Codes, customs regulations, and import procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Weboc, EFS, and online customs filing systems.
- Understanding of international trade terms (INCOTERMS).
- Good knowledge of shipment processes, freight handling, and logistics.
- Understanding of currency exchange, bank dealings, and import payments.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with internal departments and external authorities.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office and import-related online portals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in import operations or logistics management.
- Experience in manufacturing, trading, or distribution industry preferred.
