Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized Import Operations Executive to manage the complete lifecycle of import shipments — from arrival at port/airport to final delivery at the client’s premises.
The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in import operations, customs clearance procedures, and freight forwarding processes. Strong follow-up skills, coordination ability, and professional communication are essential to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective import handling.
Key Responsibilities1. Import Shipment Management
- Handle end-to-end import shipments (Air & Sea Freight).
- Manage pre-arrival coordination, documentation, customs clearance, tracking, and delivery.
- Coordinate with overseas agents, carriers, and clients for smooth operations.
2. Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and verify import documentation including:
- Bill of Lading (BL)
- Air Waybill (AWB)
- Import Manifest
- Commercial Invoice & Packing List
- Regulatory certificates and related documents
- Ensure compliance with Indian customs regulations and international trade laws.
3. Customs Clearance Coordination
- Coordinate with Customs House Agents (CHAs) for timely clearance.
- Resolve queries during customs assessment and clearance process.
- Monitor duty payments and clearance timelines.
4. Client Communication
- Act as primary point of contact for clients regarding import shipments.
- Provide regular shipment updates and proactive communication.
- Handle operational queries and ensure high customer satisfaction.
5. Carrier & Vendor Coordination
- Liaise with shipping lines, airlines, transporters, and warehouse providers.
- Ensure timely cargo arrival, offloading, and final delivery.
6. Strong Follow-Up & Monitoring
- Maintain strict follow-up on documentation, customs processes, payments, and delivery schedules.
- Prevent delays, demurrage, and detention charges.
7. Problem Resolution
- Identify and resolve operational challenges such as:
- Documentation discrepancies
- Cargo holds
- Customs delays
- Delivery issues
- Provide effective and timely solutions.
8. Rate & Cost Management
- Verify freight rates, duties, demurrage, detention, and other charges.
- Ensure cost control and accurate billing to clients.
9. Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate shipment records in company systems.
- Prepare operational reports and performance updates for management.
Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation
- Graduate in any discipline (B.Com, BBA, BA, etc.).
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or International Business is an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in Import Operations within:
- International Logistics
- Freight Forwarding
- Customs Clearance industry
