ob Summary

The LDR In-Charge is responsible for the overall functioning, coordination, and supervision of the Labour Delivery Room. The role ensures safe maternal and neonatal care, adherence to clinical protocols, compliance with NABH standards, optimal staff utilization, and readiness for emergency obstetric situations.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Patient Care

  • Ensure safe, evidence-based care during labour, delivery, and immediate post-partum period.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing and ensure timely escalation to obstetricians when required.
  • Ensure adherence to labour room protocols, partograph usage, and emergency drills.
  • Assist and supervise normal deliveries and coordinate with doctors for operative deliveries.
  • Ensure newborn care practices including resuscitation readiness, APGAR documentation, and mother-baby bonding.

Operational & Unit Management

  • Oversee day-to-day functioning of the LDR unit.
  • Ensure availability and functionality of all equipment, instruments, and emergency drugs.
  • Maintain adequate stock of consumables and indent as per requirement.
  • Coordinate with OT, NICU, blood bank, pharmacy, and housekeeping for smooth operations.
  • Ensure infection control practices including aseptic techniques and biomedical waste segregation.

Staff Management & Supervision

  • Prepare duty rosters ensuring adequate staffing as per nurse-patient ratio.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide staff nurses, ANMs, and support staff.
  • Conduct orientation and on-the-job training for new staff.
  • Monitor staff performance and report issues to Nursing Superintendent.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and discipline.

Quality, Safety & NABH Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with NABH, maternal safety, and patient rights standards.
  • Participate in clinical audits, mock drills, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Report and document incidents, near misses, and adverse events.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all clinical records.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) as advised.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as a key communication link between doctors, nurses, patients, and attendants.
  • Provide emotional support and counselling to patients and family members.
  • Handle patient grievances related to LDR services and escalate when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • GNM / B.Sc Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
  • Registered with State Nursing Council
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Labour Room / Maternity services
  • Prior experience as LDR In-Charge / Senior Staff Nurse preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹33,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
