Job Overview

Right Step Flooring is hiring an In-Home Flooring Sales Consultant to meet with homeowners, guide them through flooring options, and help them make confident decisions for their homes.

This is a consultative sales role for someone who is professional, personable, and confident leading conversations in clients’ homes. You will meet with qualified homeowners, assess their needs, recommend flooring solutions, explain the process clearly, and close sales when the timing is right.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in in-home sales, outside sales, home improvement sales, flooring sales, design consultation, or consultative sales who enjoys building trust, solving problems, and creating a strong customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-home consultations with homeowners to assess flooring needs, design preferences, lifestyle, and budget
  • Present flooring options, including hardwood, carpet, tile, and luxury vinyl plank, in a clear and professional way
  • Measure spaces accurately and document project details thoroughly
  • Recommend products and solutions based on the client’s home, goals, and budget
  • Prepare and present proposals including product recommendations, project scope, and next steps
  • Explain pricing, timelines, and installation process clearly
  • Ask for the sale and confidently guide homeowners through the decision-making process
  • Handle objections and hesitation professionally without pressure or defensiveness
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth project handoff after the sale
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, measurements, estimates, and job details in company systems
  • Represent the company professionally and provide a high level of customer service throughout the consultation process

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sales, outside sales, in-home sales, home improvement sales, flooring sales, remodeling sales, or consultative sales preferred
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable meeting homeowners in their homes and leading conversations with confidence
  • Ability to build trust, overcome objections, and close sales professionally
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn product knowledge, pricing, and company process quickly
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, tablets, email, and digital sales tools
  • Basic math skills for measurements, quoting, and pricing discussions
  • Flooring, remodeling, interior design, or construction experience is a plus, but not required
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who can walk into a home, make the client feel comfortable, ask the right questions, present solutions clearly, and confidently guide the conversation toward a decision.

You do not need to know everything about flooring on day one.

You do need to be coachable, resourceful, professional, and strong in consultative sales.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
