Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts if necessary.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being and social engagement.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Monitor clients’ health by observing vital signs and noting any changes in condition; report findings to family members or healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Support clients with medication reminders and ensure adherence to care plans designed by healthcare providers.
- Engage in patient observation for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or developmental disabilities to ensure safety and appropriate responses.
- Follow all HIPAA guidelines to protect client confidentiality and maintain professional standards of care.
Requirements
- Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred. But not required!
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques including assisting with ADLs, patient monitoring, and dementia or memory care.
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in hospice care or HIPAA compliance is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks involved in caregiving duties.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions.
