In-Home Overnight Pet Sitter

Position

We are seeking a mature, responsible, animal-loving pet sitter for in-home care in our private, two-story home while we are away. We have 2 friendly dogs and 2 cats that need reliable overnight presence, daily care, and basic household tasks. The sitter will stay overnight alone (in the designated guest bedroom) to provide companionship, security, and routine care for the pets.

• In-Home Overnight Pet Sitter – 2 Dogs & 2 Cats – Short & Long-Term Stays (Including Extended Vacations)
• This role is ideal for someone who enjoys quiet evenings, is comfortable staying in a large home solo, and takes pride in keeping pets happy and the household running smoothly.
• Positions range from occasional 1–2 night stays to longer vacation coverage (e.g., upcoming 18–23 day trip). No dog walking is required.

Position Type

• Contract / Independent Contractor (Temporary / As-Needed, with potential for recurring opportunities)

Compensation

• Overnight stays (typically 9 PM – 7 AM, staying alone in the guest bedroom): $100–$125 per night (negotiable based on experience and length of stay)
• Daily check-ins (1–2 visits per day for feeding, litter boxes, playtime, etc.): Paid at a daily rate (negotiable)
• Full-day coverage (combining overnight + daytime check-ins): $150 flat fee per 24-hour period (negotiable)
• Extended/long-term stays (e.g., 18–23 days for vacations): Rate to be discussed and mutually agreed upon (often structured as nightly or weekly equivalent for consistency)

Rates are competitive and flexible depending on the total duration, specific needs, and candidate experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Stay overnight in the home (9 PM – 7 AM or similar agreed hours) to monitor and care for the pets
• Feed pets on schedule (dry food as directed)
• Clean litter boxes daily and scoop any cat poop as needed
• Provide playtime, affection, and companionship for the dogs and cats
• Retrieve mail and bring it inside
• Basic tidying related to pet care (e.g., wiping spills, picking up toys)
• Administer any medications if needed (none at this time and none expected)
• Occasional daytime returns/check-ins if full coverage isn't required (1–2 visits per day for feeding, play, etc.)
• Maintain open communication via text/photos updates

Experience

• Proven experience with pet sitting, especially in-home/overnight care for dogs and cats (references from similar roles preferred)
• Comfortable staying alone overnight in a private residence
• Reliable, punctual, non-smoking, and trustworthy with access to someone's home
• Animal lover with calm, patient demeanor around pets
• Physically able to handle light duties (lifting pet food bags ~20 lbs, bending for litter boxes, etc.)
• Own reliable transportation for any daytime visits
• Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and extended periods
