Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated In-Home Respite Workers to provide essential support and care for individuals with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or age-related needs within their homes. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication reminders and monitor vital signs as needed
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
- Support clients with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia by implementing care plans and ensuring safety
- Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental well-being
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and organizing
- Observe and document client condition, report any changes or concerns promptly
- Utilize proper techniques for patient transfer, including use of Hoyer lifts or resident's personal assistive devices
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information
- Assist with transportation to appointments or community activities when necessary
Skills
- Experience in home & community care, assisted living, or long-term care environments
- Knowledge of patient care procedures including medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and Alzheimer’s or dementia care
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining safety standards
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing signs of distress or deterioration
- Compassionate communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Physical ability for heavy lifting when necessary, including assisting with transfers using Hoyer lifts or similar equipment
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs is highly desirable
- Familiarity with care plans, social work principles, and hospice or palliative care practices is a plus
