Are you a motivated attorney looking to escape the billable hour grind of a traditional firm? The Kidwell Group LLC d/b/a Air Quality Assessors of Florida (AQA) is seeking an energetic and sharp In-House Counsel to join our team.

In this role, you won't be starting from scratch. You will step into an established, fast-paced legal department supported by a dedicated team of experienced paralegals and legal assistants. Your primary mission will be to manage and litigate claims against property insurance companies for unpaid invoices, ensuring our experts are compensated for the vital work they perform for Florida homeowners.

Why Join AQA?

  • Established Success: We are a leading statewide provider of air quality assessments with a strong reputation and an A+ BBB rating.
  • Support System: You will have a full support staff to handle filings, scheduling, and documentation, allowing you to focus on strategy and litigation.
  • Work-Life Balance: This is a true 40-hour-per-week, Monday–Friday position. No weekend "on-call" expectations.
  • Culture: We operate in a fast-paced, "fun" environment where initiative is rewarded and collaboration is key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of first-party property insurance litigation (specifically for unpaid invoices/AOB).
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Represent the company in depositions, hearings, and mediations across Florida.
  • Work closely with our internal billing and assessment teams to gather evidence for claims.
  • Provide legal guidance to the executive team on evolving Florida insurance statutes (e.g., Section 627.7152).

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
  • Experience in property insurance litigation, AOB, or breach of contract is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • A "team player" attitude with the ability to lead a support staff effectively.
