About Blue Ridge Dental Anesthesia (BRDA)

Blue Ridge Dental Anesthesia is a family-owned, growing mobile practice providing high-quality anesthesia services to pediatric and adult dental offices throughout South Carolina. This is a unique opportunity to practice autonomously in a non-hospital setting and build a long-term career with a predictable, high-quality practice model and excellent work-life balance.

Position Overview

Blue Ridge Dental Anesthesia is seeking a Dentist Anesthesiologist or Medical Anesthesiologist to provide in-office general anesthesia for dental procedures at permitted facilities throughout the Upstate and Midlands.

Our primary patient population is pediatric, though we also support select specialty dental offices. The position offers consistent weekday, first-shift work with both part-time and full-time positions available. You will typically work with a dedicated dental anesthesia assistant (1:1 model).

This role offers the professional independence of managing your own cases in a supportive, well-equipped environment - without the administrative burden or call demands of hospital practice. As a mobile anesthesia provider, you will travel to our partner dental offices to deliver complete anesthesia services on-site. BRDA provides all necessary equipment, monitors, medications, and supplies, and we have built strong relationships with our dental partners throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive anesthesia care to pediatric and adult patients in a mobile, office-based setting.
  • Manage all aspects of the anesthetic event, from setup and pre-op through recovery and discharge, demanding a high degree of skill and clinical autonomy.
  • Maintain detailed anesthesia and controlled-substance documentation.
  • Provide postoperative follow-up with patients or parents/guardians to review recovery status and address any anesthesia-related concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with dental teams to ensure safe, efficient, and positive patient experiences.

Licensure & Certification Requirements

  • Active South Carolina dental license (DDS/DMD) with completion of an advanced dental anesthesiology residency program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), or active South Carolina medical license (MD/DO) with completion of an anesthesia residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Eligible for or ability to obtain both a South Carolina Controlled Substances Registration (CSR) and DEA registration.
  • Must maintain an individual professional liability (malpractice) insurance policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in outpatient or dental-office anesthesia
  • Proficiency with TIVA and both open-airway and intubated techniques
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and record-keeping abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, professionalism, and patient-focused care

Schedule & Travel

  • Schedule: Consistent weekday, first-shift hours (typically 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), with no major holidays.
  • Travel: Daily travel to partner dental offices within approximately 2 hours of Greenville.

What We Offer

  • Highly Competitive Compensation: Commission-based compensation model designed to reward productivity.
  • On-Target Annual Earnings: The estimated full-time equivalent (FTE) annual earning potential is $325,000 - $365,000.
  • Superior Work-Life Balance: Our providers enjoy a predictable, weekday-only schedule with no requirements for call, nights, weekends, or major holidays. We offer approved, unpaid time off, allowing you to build a schedule that fits your life.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: We are committed to supporting our employees' financial and professional well-being, offering:
  • W-2 Employment Status: Provides financial stability and eliminates the administrative burden of being a 1099 contractor.
  • Paid Onboarding and Training: Ensures you are fully prepared and confident in our mobile anesthesia setup, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Professional Liability Insurance Reimbursement: We offer a reimbursement benefit for your individual professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
  • Licensure, CSR, DEA, and Certification Reimbursement: We cover the costs associated with maintaining your professional standing, including upfront payment of DEA and all required South Carolina Controlled Substances Registrations (CSRs), and reimbursement for your state medical or dental license and key certifications.
  • Continuing Education (CE) Reimbursement: We provide an allowance for continuing education to support your ongoing professional development.
  • Mileage Reimbursement: Provided for travel to select out-of-area offices.
  • All Anesthesia Equipment and Supplies: We provide all necessary anesthesia equipment, monitors, medications, and supplies, allowing you to focus entirely on patient care.
