Key Responsibilities
- Review inpatient medical records including admission notes, progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and lab results
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and DRG codes for inpatient cases
- Ensure compliance with DHA coding standards and UAE insurance regulations
- Clarify incomplete or unclear documentation with physicians
- Abstract clinical data into hospital information systems
- Ensure accurate DRG assignment for reimbursement purposes
- Participate in internal and external coding audits
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Support denial management and claim resubmission processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, Pharmacy, or related healthcare field
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or CPC-H from AAPC
OR
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from AHIMA
- DHA License or Eligibility Letter (mandatory for Dubai)
- Minimum 2–5 years of inpatient coding experience
- Strong knowledge of DRG methodology
Required Skills
- In-depth understanding of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology
- Knowledge of UAE insurance eClaims system
- Strong analytical and documentation review skills
- Attention to detail with high accuracy rate
- Ability to work under deadlines
- Good communication and coordination skills
