Duties
- Deliver engaging, in-person tutoring sessions across various subjects including mathematics, science, English language arts, and test preparation such as the SAT.
- Develop customized lesson plans and curriculum materials that align with each student’s learning style and educational needs.
- Assess students’ strengths and areas for improvement through ongoing evaluations and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Incorporate learning technology and instructional tools to enhance understanding and retention during sessions.
- Support students from diverse cultural backgrounds and with special education needs by applying inclusive teaching practices.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively to create a positive, focused learning environment that encourages active participation.
- Communicate progress regularly with students, parents, and guardians to ensure transparency and collaborative goal-setting.
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly in math, science, English language arts, or test preparation such as the SAT.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and instructional adaptability to meet individual learning styles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage students of all ages.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools used in educational settings.
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those requiring special education accommodations.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with patience and empathy when working with children or adult learners.
- Experience designing lesson plans that incorporate different teaching methods tailored to various learning styles.
- Flexibility to adapt instruction based on student progress and feedback; experience working with online instruction is a plus but not required.
