In-Person Tutor

Duties

• Deliver engaging, in-person tutoring sessions across various subjects including mathematics, science, English language arts, and test preparation such as the SAT.
• Develop customized lesson plans and curriculum materials that align with each student’s learning style and educational needs.
• Assess students’ strengths and areas for improvement through ongoing evaluations and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
• Incorporate learning technology and instructional tools to enhance understanding and retention during sessions.
• Support students from diverse cultural backgrounds and with special education needs by applying inclusive teaching practices.
• Manage classroom dynamics effectively to create a positive, focused learning environment that encourages active participation.
• Communicate progress regularly with students, parents, and guardians to ensure transparency and collaborative goal-setting.

Requirements

• Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly in math, science, English language arts, or test preparation such as the SAT.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development and instructional adaptability to meet individual learning styles.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage students of all ages.
• Familiarity with learning technology tools used in educational settings.
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those requiring special education accommodations.
• Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with patience and empathy when working with children or adult learners.
• Experience designing lesson plans that incorporate different teaching methods tailored to various learning styles.
• Flexibility to adapt instruction based on student progress and feedback; experience working with online instruction is a plus but not required.
