Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Chief Engineer

General Description: The Tech is primarily responsible for performing a broad spectrum of repairs.

Location: Falls Church, Fairfax County, VA

Type of Position: Full-time Permanent Position.

Schedule: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position requires emergency on-call time. The on-call rotates between staff members and a staff member is usually on-call once a month.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Any trade certifications are a plus.

Experience: A minimum of Five (5) years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician. Condominium/HOA experience is a plus.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and other systems.
• Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting device.
• Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
• Involves movement between departments, floors, and building to facilitate work.
• Skilled with a variety of hand and power tools.
• Excellent manual dexterity
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Basic Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
• Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing.
• Ability to read, write and understand English is mandatory.
• Must pass background check and drug test.

Responsibilities:

• Common Area (Outside of the Units) and In-unit Maintenance.
• Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify the appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocols.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include, but not limited to, plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, drains, shop, grounds equipment, and HVAC.
• Clean, lubricate, and service a wide variety of pumps, valves, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices.
• Assist with the installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
• Replace and repair building finishes such as, but not limited to, ceiling tiles and door hardware.
• Execute work orders as assigned.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, preventative maintenance, etc.
• Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems such as, but not limited to, fire alarm systems, fire pumps and related fire protection system equipment as assigned.
• Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, Company directives, and the Employee Handbook and practice safe work habits.
• May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments)
