The Income Maintenance Caseworker I is responsible for receiving FNS reviews, checking them for accuracy, sending DSS-8650 for needed information, and assisting in conducting the interview. In addition, the Income Maintenance Caseworker I will screen mail-in applications for emergency processing and assist with conducting the interview on some FNS applications as well as processing auto-newborn and presumptive Medicaid applications. The position requires the caseworker to take phone calls from FNS and Medicaid recipients and notify the on-going caseworker of changes reported by the recipient. They will update addresses, phone numbers, and record changed information in the NC FAST system. They must monitor and maintain continuous compliance with all the program requirements. They will open, attach, and task mail to the appropriate worker in the FNS and Medicaid units. The Income Maintenance Caseworker I will scan and attach mail into NC FAST, monitor the general agency e-mails and forward correspondence to the appropriate worker(s), monitor text communications and distribute it to the appropriate worker(s) as well as send out mass text messages as directed, and send and receive e-faxes and ensure the correspondence is sent to the appropriate worker(s). The Income Maintenance Caseworker I will resolve some agency reports such as FRR’s for the IM Division. The Income Maintenance Caseworker I will handle completing Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation (NEMT) verifications and completing the no-show lists weekly to determine who has good cause and who does not and applying the NEMT suspension policy. They will take and process Energy Program applications. This consists of interviewing clients and collecting and verifying relevant eligibility requirements. Utilize NC FAST to gather and input information into the web database. Determine eligibility requirements based on the status of the heating/cooling systems of the home and the health status of the household members. Work with other community partners to provide referrals to the client when deemed necessary. Process Energy Program applications from a variety of sources including in-person, telephone, mail, ePASS, email and/or fax.
Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of NC FAST.
