About the role
Castellan Sitters is hiring dependable, professional independent contractors to provide in-home pet and farm care for our clients.
This position is best suited for someone looking for flexible, part-time, side income rather than a full-time role.
As a Castellan Sitter, services you may provide:
You may be scheduled for one or more of the following:
- Short pet let-out visits
- Drop-in / visit services
- Pet taxi (transporting pets to appointments or locations)
- Day sitting in the client’s home
- Overnight sitting in the client’s home
- Farm visits
- Farm sitting
Some jobs involve only indoor pets.
Some jobs may involve farm animals and horses.
Horse experience is NOT required, but it is strongly preferred.
Required responsibilities
- Must be 18+
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct when interacting with clients
- Willingness to meet clients in person for introductions when needed
- Arrive on time for all scheduled visits and sits
- Follow detailed client instructions exactly
- Provide safe, attentive, and responsible care to all animals
- Communicate clearly and promptly with the Castellan Sitters team
- Send visit updates and photos as required
- Safely transport pets for pet taxi services when assigned
This role requires ALL of the following
Applicants must:
- Be professional, responsible, and trustworthy
- Have prior animal care experience (personal, volunteer, or professional)
- Have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Be comfortable traveling to multiple client homes and farms
- Have strong communication skills
- Be able to work independently without direct supervision
- Be able to pass a background check
- Be willing to complete a short Zoom interview

This includes:
- Appropriate appearance and grooming

- Being on time and ready to speak on camera
This role involves entering clients’ homes and caring for their pets and property, so professionalism is required at all stages of the hiring process.
Scheduling & work expectations
- This is flexible, gig-based work
- Jobs are assigned based on client demand and your availability
- Some services may be recurring weekly
- Some services may be occasional or seasonal
- Availability during holidays, weekends, and peak travel seasons is a plus
Preferred but not required
- Horse and/or farm animal experience
- Prior professional pet sitting, kennel, veterinary, or farm work
