Independent High School Tutor — Build Your Teaching Business on a Growing Platform

Dojo Tutor, powered by ClassDojo $20–$30/hour · Contract · Remote

Why Dojo Tutor?

Dojo Tutor is ClassDojo's tutoring marketplace — and it's growing fast. We connect experienced educators with families who are actively seeking high-quality, personalized learning. Unlike video-call-based tutoring services, our platform uses Lessonspace, a purpose-built virtual classroom with interactive whiteboards, document sharing, and collaborative tools designed for real learning (not just screen-sharing on Zoom).

We're looking for high school educators who think like entrepreneurs — experienced teachers who know their subject deeply, can meet students where they are, and want to build a thriving tutoring practice on a platform that 50+ million families already trust.

What's in it for you?

As an independent contractor on Dojo Tutor, you operate your own tutoring business. We provide the marketplace, the families, the booking system, and the payment infrastructure. You bring the expertise and make it your own.

High school is one of our highest-demand and fastest-growing segments, with families actively seeking tutors who can support advanced coursework, test preparation, and college readiness. We're also launching small group classes (2–8 learners) in 2026 — a format well-suited to study groups, test prep cohorts, and collaborative review sessions, giving you more ways to reach families and grow your business on the platform.

Areas of expertise we're looking for:

We're building depth across high school subjects. You don't need to cover everything — we want teachers who go deep in their areas of strength.

Math: Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Statistics

Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science

English Language Arts: Literature analysis, essay writing, research skills, AP Language & Composition, AP Literature & Composition

Writing: Academic writing, college application essays, research papers, creative writing

Spanish: Advanced Spanish, AP Spanish Language & Culture, conversational fluency

Coding & Computer Science: Python, Java, JavaScript, AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles

Test Prep: SAT, ACT, PSAT/NMSQT, subject-specific standardized tests

Advanced Academics: AP course support across subjects, dual enrollment coursework support, honors-level content, college readiness and study skills

Who we're looking for:

We're selective about who joins the platform because families trust us to connect them with great educators.

You should have an active teaching certification OR demonstrated expertise in your subject area, deep content knowledge in one or more high school subjects listed above, experience teaching or tutoring high school students (grades 9–12), comfort with online instruction and virtual teaching tools, and strong communication skills with both students and families.

Experience with AP curriculum, test prep, or dual enrollment support is a strong plus.

You'll also need a reliable internet connection and a professional teaching environment.

How it works:

This is a 1099 independent contractor position. You choose your own availability — no minimum hours required. All sessions are currently 1-on-1, with small group classes (2–8 learners) launching soon. We handle booking, payment processing, and platform support so you can focus on teaching.

This role is a great fit if you:

Have deep expertise in your subject and love working with high schoolers navigating challenging coursework. Are excited about growing your tutoring practice on a startup platform that's actively expanding. Want to help students prepare for AP exams, standardized tests, or the transition to college-level work. Prefer a real virtual classroom with academic tools over basic video calls. Want access to a large, engaged family audience without having to find clients yourself. Are looking for flexibility — whether tutoring is your primary work or a meaningful side practice.
