Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Medical Technician (MT) is responsible for providing direct care to residents. The CNA/MT maintains resident comfort and safety. The CNA/MT serves as a conduit between residents and nurses. The CNA/MT effectively interacts with residents and family members while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. The CNA/MT follows all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards. The CNA/MT manages unit equipment and supplies in a responsible manner. The RN should always be informed of any exceptionally unfavorable conditions of residents, complaints of residents, and the inability of the CNA/MT to carry out any assignment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
- Ensure and maintain resident safety and reporting any suspected abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation immediately to supervisor.
- Ensure all resident information is maintained confidentially.
- Notifies the nurse when resident becomes ill/injured, condition changes, medication changes, etc.
- Give oncoming CNA/MT report on residents.
- Take report from the off-going CNA/MT.
- Perform tasks as assigned such as report to nurse, respond to resident incidents through pendant system, personal care, wound care within scope, vital signs using manual and digital equipment, weighing, and post-mortem care. (List is non-inclusive)
- Assist and encourage residents to participate in activities.
- Foster self-respect and self-esteem in residents.
- Treat them as individuals and call them by the name they prefer.
- Report any incidents involving a co-worker, visitor or resident to the nurse immediately.
- Participates in in-services and education programs.
- Assist with shift coverage as needed.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualification, Education, and Experience:
- The CNA must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the needs of the residents served.
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must go through Med tech training or have documentation of being Med Tech
- Must be in good mental and physical condition
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- CNA experience of at least 1 year preferred
Licensure/Certification Responsibility Requirements:
- CNA
- Med Tech
- CPR Certification (Required)
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent and/or prolonged walking and standing
- Able to bend and sit
- Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds unassisted/ fifty (50) pounds assisted
- Ability to pull and/or push approved equipment such as wheelchairs with or without residents, meal carts, ice carts, beds, etc.
- Visual acuity to safely; perform accurate CNA skills with residents (such as obtaining manual blood pressures), and to ensure there are no safety hazards in care areas.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate; equipment (vital sign, glucose monitors)
- May be subjected to repetitive motion

Pay: $16.25 - $21.75 per hour
