Independent Tutor

Job Title: Independent Tutor - Reading/Writing, and/or Math K-12

Location: In-person in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area

About Us: Growing Minds Tutoring is a private tutoring service dedicated to providing students with the tools they need to be successful and confident. We provide personalized and effective tutoring across various subjects and are seeking passionate and skilled independent tutors to join our team.

Position Overview: As an Independent Tutor, you will work with students of various ages,

providing one-on-one instruction. You will be responsible for creating tailored lesson plans, monitoring and communicating student progress, and fostering a supportive learning environment. Schedule times and locations are flexible, based on your availability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct individualized tutoring sessions in the subject(s)/ grade(s) of your choice.
• Develop customized lesson plans based on students’ learning objectives and needs.
• Assess student progress and adapt instructional methods as necessary.
• Provide feedback and support to students to enhance their understanding and performance.
• Maintain clear communication with students and their families regarding progress and areas for improvement.
• Uphold a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, or equivalent experience in education or tutoring. Additional education, experience, and training preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the subject(s) being offered.
• Training in reading programs such as Orton-Gillingham or math programs such as Multisensory Math preferred.
• Experience working with students with exceptionalities preferred, such as Dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students.
• Availability to work after-school hours (3:30pm-8:30pm).

Compensation:

• Hourly rate of $50-75, based on experience and qualifications.
• Payment available monthly.
