Do you love being on the go, getting out and about, staying active, and spending time with someone
who enjoys life to the fullest? We are looking for a trustworthy, caring, patient, kind and fun person to
join this young man’s support team!

This position involves providing 1:1 support to a friendly, outgoing young man turning
22 in January. He loves life and has a wide range of interests, not limited to: shooting hoops, sharing
laughter, sharing jokes, and connecting with others! He enjoys watching competitive local and NE based
sports, taking walks and exploring new places, window shopping and people watching at the mall,
hanging out with friends and family, enjoying music from classical to country, dining at restaurants and
trying new foods, running errands and helping others! This role is about helping him enjoy his favorite
activities, stay connected in his community and feel supported in his daily routines as well as personal
care needs. The perfect candidate would assist him with communicating, whether by facilitating
conversations or tuning into his verbal and nonverbal cues. He has so much to share and say! The family
is looking for someone who can make those moments meaningful... and fun!

Key Responsibilities:

Attend to daily needs as well as foster increased independence and self-determination.

  • Work collaboratively with the individual and/or their guardian or caregiver regarding schedule and planned activities, goals, etc.
  • Ability to implement Individual Support Plan (ISP), Behavior Support Plan (BSP) on a daily basis.
  • Assist w ADLs and personal care as needed
  • Foster independent living skills and skill acquisition through role-model and teaching strategies.
  • Teach socialization skills and activities of daily living including: household maintenance; self-care and hygiene; self-awareness and human development, menu planning, food shopping and preparation; money management skills/budgeting; transportation and community orientation; consumer skills; and utilization of community resources.
  • Record and appropriately utilize necessary data, daily progress notes, and complete all other ISP and program required documentation.
  • Supervise and document self-administration of an individual's medications as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of available community activities, explore new activities, and supervise individuals at such activities.
  • Support each individual with their existing relationships and increase their networks of friends and acquaintances.
  • To report any change and/or concerns impacting the individual to the supervisory team in a timely manner.
  • Collect and submit all receipts as required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to monitor health and safety of individuals.
  • Uphold client confidentiality in all instances where mandated reporting of abuse/ neglect is not applicable.
  • Required to attend all staff training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled and maintain agency and DDS required training.
  • Transport individuals in personal vehicles on a daily basis if required and submit for mileage reimbursement within the BCL guidelines. Must maintain auto insurance.


Working Conditions:

  • Physical activities include but not limited to climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, etc.
  • Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally.
  • Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
  • The worker is subject to hazards such as moving parts, moving vehicles, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Dependable, patient and upbeat
  • Good listener and creative communicator
  • Comfortable providing personal care and daily living support
  • Experience in human services or caregiving is a plus - but kindness, creativity and connection matter most!

Required Qualifications:

  • High School/GED
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have had a current US drivers license for 3 years and use of personal vehicle.
  • Time management and writing skills
  • Successful applicants must be able to successfully pass a CORI check, Drug Test, and a Driving Record Check.
  • All applicants must be able to become First Aid, CPR, Human Rights, Safety Care, and MAP certified within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 months experience in human services

Salary: $20.33 per hour or as outlined in Collective Bargaining Agreement.
