Industrial Electrician

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial electrical work, including equipment set up and maintenance. This role involves working on equipment, performing installations, renovations, and maintenance of electrical systems. The Industrial Electrician will ensure that all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant codes and standards. Salary will be based on experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment with related training
  • Relevance of experience will be determined based on similar equipment, procedures, and job functions
  • Additional related education may be substituted for work experience
  • Successful completion of Plant Maintenance Electrician training program or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Considerable knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage switchgear, protective relaying, grounding procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, safety procedures, and electrical test equipment
  • Good knowledge of electrical codes and regulations
  • Knowledge of electronics and instrumentation
  • Ability to use engineering drawings, schematics, and service manuals to troubleshoot, install, and repair equipment
  • Ability to maintain records and report on work accomplished
  • Skilled in the use of electrical equipment and tools
  • Some knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools used in general maintenance work
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to perform strenuous manual work under varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work unscheduled hours during emergency and/or unusual situations (24 hours / 7 days per week)
  • Considerable knowledge of the approved methods, practices, code requirements and safety standards, including equipment, tools and materials of the trade

Responsibilities

  • The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical components on varies pieces of equipment on the worksite
  • They will perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems, wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment; and perform related work as required
  • Install electrical components, test components, troubleshoot components, and repair any electrical components that may be below company or industry standards
  • Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems
  • Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs
  • Have knowledge of and use the required personal protective equipment to protect against arc flash and shock
  • Ensure all mechanical components and wiring are up to date and code for the area they work in
  • Fix machines with hydraulic or electrical issues and identify what parts are needed to repair the issue
  • Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, protective relaying, and related equipment
  • Translate blueprint information and outline specifications of machines
  • Read/Interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus
  • Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring
  • Ability to use electrical/electronic testing equipment to such as multi-meters, ammeters, megohm meters, digital probes to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Use hand and power tools related to the electrical trades
  • Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels
  • Observe installed systems to detect hazards and determine the need for adjustments or modifications
  • Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, and panels
  • Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical problems
  • Flexible and knowledgeable in relation to all things mechanical and adapt to situations that may arise throughout the day
  • Supervise and participate in the on-the-job training of Maintenance personnel as needed
  • Use computerized maintenance system to retrieve and enter information

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
