Industrial Engineer

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for supporting the Center of Excellence project by ensuring proper facility layout, operational workflows, process flows, and workspace configurations associated with the centralized repair center initiative. The role analyzes operational requirements and translates them into efficient, practical, and safe layouts and workflows that support productivity, safety, quality, and operational efficiency objectives.


The role works closely with the Project Manager, project teams, operations, engineering, facilities, and other stakeholders to support facility planning and operational design activities, including layout development, workflow optimization, process mapping, value stream mapping, material flow analysis, and capacity planning.


The Industrial Engineer also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, operational readiness planning, KPI development, and process standardization activities to ensure proper workflow design, effective space utilization, and sustainable operational performance across the repair center environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


1. Facility Layout Planning and Operational Flow Optimization

  • Develop and optimize facility layouts, operational flows, and workspace configurations for the centralized repair center.
  • Support layout planning activities related to construction, infrastructure, and operational readiness.
  • Develop operational flow concepts, workstation arrangements, and space utilization plans to ensure proper layout and efficient workflow across operational areas.
  • Analyze the movement of materials, tooling, equipment, components, and personnel across operational areas.
  • Ensure layouts support operational efficiency, safety, productivity, maintainability, and quality objectives.


2. Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping and Workflow Analysis

  • Develop process maps, value stream maps, workflow analyses, and operational models to support process design and optimization.
  • Map current-state and future-state operational processes.
  • Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, duplication, handoff issues, and non-value-added activities that may affect proper workflow and operational flow.
  • Develop optimized workflows and process improvement recommendations.
  • Support the standardization of operational processes across the repair centre environment.


3. Operational Modelling, Capacity and Utilization Analysis

  • Support the development of operational models and optimization strategies for the centralized repair center.
  • Perform workload, capacity, productivity, and utilization analysis.
  • Support manpower planning, space planning, and resource requirement analysis to ensure layout and workflow requirements are properly supported.
  • Analyze operational data to support decision-making, planning assumptions, and project implementation.
  • Provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency, resource utilization, and throughput.


4. Process Design Alignment with Project Milestones

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager, project team, facilities, engineering, operations, and other stakeholders to align process design with project milestones.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams regarding operational requirements, process design inputs, and infrastructure planning needs.
  • Ensure infrastructure design and facility planning activities are aligned with workflow, capacity, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Support readiness assessments, implementation planning, and operational transition activities.
  • Provide technical input to ensure proper layout, workflow, and operational design requirements are considered during project execution.


5. KPI Development, Dashboarding and Performance Metrics

  • Support the development of operational KPIs, performance metrics, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Develop reporting tools, dashboards, and operational performance trackers.
  • Analyze process performance trends, productivity data, and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide insights to support management reporting, operational reviews, and continuous improvement actions.
  • Use data visualization and reporting tools to improve visibility of operational performance.


6. Continuous Improvement and Lean Implementation

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and Lean implementation activities across the repair center environment.
  • Apply Lean principles, Six Sigma concepts, and process optimization techniques to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in improvement workshops, root cause analysis activities, and process review sessions.
  • Recommend efficiency, productivity, safety, and quality improvement opportunities.
  • Support the implementation of improvement actions and monitor progress against expected outcomes.


7. Project Reporting, Documentation and Coordination Support

  • Prepare analysis reports, technical summaries, presentations, and project updates related to industrial engineering activities.
  • Maintain process documentation, engineering records, layouts, process maps, and analysis files.
  • Support coordination with project stakeholders, operations, engineering, facilities, and other support functions as required.
  • Document assumptions, design inputs, analysis outputs, and improvement recommendations.
  • Support project reporting and governance requirements related to operational design and process optimization.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

Minimum Qualifications: (Education/Certification/Licensure/Professional Membership)


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Training or coursework in industrial engineering, facility layout planning, workflow analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement is preferred.
  • Project management certification, training, or coursework is an advantage.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial engineering experience in the aviation sector, preferably within aviation MRO, repair center operations, engine MRO, or related technical operational environments; or minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering firm.
  • Experience in facility layout planning, workflow analysis, process optimization, operational flow design, and workspace configuration.
  • In-depth knowledge of process optimization, operational efficiency, workflow analysis, and productivity improvement.
  • Experience in developing process maps, workflow models, capacity analyses, dashboards, and improvement recommendations.
  • Experience using data analysis, process mapping, dashboarding, or reporting tools.
  • Exposure to aviation, MRO, repair center operations, manufacturing, engineering, or technical operational environments is advantageous.

Demonstrates intermediate proficiency in applying Lean principles, Six Sigma concepts, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and operational performance.


6-Data Analysis and Dashboard Development

Demonstrates intermediate to advanced proficiency in using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to analyze data, develop dashboards, prepare performance reports, and support management decision-making.


7-Operational Readiness and Implementation Support

Demonstrates intermediate proficiency in supporting operational readiness, implementation planning, workflow transition, and alignment of process design with project milestones and infrastructure requirements.


8-Stakeholder Coordination and Technical Communication

Demonstrates intermediate to advanced proficiency in coordinating with project teams, operations, engineering, facilities, and other stakeholders to gather inputs, communicate findings, and support implementation activities.


9-Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving

Demonstrates advanced proficiency in analyzing operational issues, identifying root causes, evaluating alternatives, and recommending practical solutions to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness.


10-Documentation and Reporting

Demonstrates intermediate proficiency in preparing technical reports, process documentation, presentations, analysis summaries, layouts, process records, and improvement recommendations.
